Tell us about what your ordinary day looks like.
In my day to day life, I work as a lawyer at a feminist non-profit organization but by night I am a dedicated puzzler.
How did you get into the world of puzzling?
I've been slow puzzling since I was young, but got into speed puzzling in a big way about a year ago. My speed puzzling partners and I have competed in a handful of competitions including, most recently, the Canadian Nationals. In September we will be heading to the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship in Valladolid, Spain!
What makes you keep puzzling & how often do you puzzle?
Puzzling is amazing because it can be so many things. I slow puzzle for relaxation but then speed puzzling allows me to really test my brain and endurance. I puzzle almost everyday and was recently introduced to puzzle chess which will no doubt become a new favourite activity.
What is your favorite type of puzzle?
I tend to prioritize 500 piece puzzles when prepping for competitions because they are great for building speed. Outside of that, I love puzzles of all sizes as long as they have interesting or evocative art that I can really dive into. Giant puzzles also don't scare me since I once assembled a 9000 piece puzzle.
During puzzling sessions, do you listen to anything or puzzle in silence?
When I'm puzzling I am usually listening to video essays on YouTube. The longer the better! During competitions I don't listen to anything even though I do have a designated speed puzzling playlist.
If you were to describe what puzzling means to you, what would it be?
Puzzling means a time to relax and recharge but can also be a total adrenaline rush!
Tell us about your other interests & joys.
In addition to puzzling, I am also an avid reader and gamer. I love all genres of books but am very partial to fantasy, science fiction, and horror.
Do you have anything you want to share?
The puzzling community is made up of some of the loveliest humans and is a great way to make new friends!
