Tell us about what your ordinary day looks like.
As a part time freelance graphic designer my day starts slowly. I spend the morning puzzling, junk journaling, coloring, reading, writing, and simply letting my mind wander and dream. This time helps me to get inspired and motivated for the rest of the day. In the afternoon I work on different design jobs. I’ll also spend time practicing new skills. I’m currently trying to learn hand lettering and freehand drawing. During the evening I love catching up with my husband and just spending time together even if we are doing our own thing.
How did you get into the world of puzzling?
I enjoyed puzzles off and on my whole life. It was always an activity I enjoyed by myself and with others. But it was only in recent years that I started dedicating a lot of time on puzzles. In the span of 2 years, I lost my both of my brothers. I went through a severe depression and struggled to do anything. During a particularly down moment, I took out a puzzle and put it together. I noticed my mind felt at ease and I enjoyed the challenge. Whenever I completed a puzzle, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Now it has become my favorite activity.
What makes you keep puzzling & how often do you puzzle?
I puzzle daily. Puzzling is my favorite thing to do, so I make sure to to dedicate time for it everyday. Though, I will admit sometimes I become so absorbed that I won’t do anything else all day.
What is your favorite type of puzzle?
I prefer 1000-piece puzzles. After browsing my collection, the common themes are illustrations depicting daily life, cozy rooms with plants and books, comical depictions of vulgar words/things and definitely women’s empowerment.
During puzzling sessions, do you listen to anything or puzzle in silence?
Normally I will listen/watch a movie or series that I am familiar with. That way I don’t have to keep looking up to know what’s going on. I also love listening to audiobooks.
If you were to describe what puzzling means to you, what would it be?
The first words that come to mind are, peace, calm, clarity and fun.
Tell us about your other interests & joys.
I enjoy being creative so my hobbies reflect that. Besides puzzling, my favorite hobbies are designing layouts for my planner and journals, junk journaling, coloring, diamond painting and reading. I’m also a big fan of Korean dramas, true crime and documentaries.
