Marine Life was the first Soonness puzzle I pieced together. I became a fan of both the brand and Soon Cho’s artwork. So much, that I scoured the internet for the other (2) life puzzles – Arctic and Forest. When Kitchen Life became available for pre order last May, I placed my order right away despite knowing new piece shapes will be introduced in this batch.
The artwork is perfect. I love the theme and the bright colors. The puzzle box is thick, sturdy and just the right size. It comes with the pieces stored in a paper bag, a poster, a postcard and an extra paper bag to store the pieces. The puzzle finish is matte and the pieces are thick and fit perfectly together.
I am not a fan of random shaped pieces. I’m that puzzler who sorts the puzzle pieces into shapes and not colors. So sorting the pieces became a challenge.
I am also that puzzler who breaks the completed puzzle into sections and stores each section neatly back into the box. With the random shaped pieces, this just was not possible anymore.
On the bright side, the shapes do not take away from the quality of the puzzle. The advantage of random piece shapes is that you can easily spot what you’re looking for. Additionally, I admire the dedication Soon puts into every aspect of the puzzles. Very hands-on.
Overall, I enjoyed putting this puzzle together and the brand remains to be one of my top favorite puzzle brands.
