Tell us about what your ordinary day looks like.
In day to day life, I'm a computer scientist and researcher in the field of Human-Computer-Interaction, who works on making digital learning processes easier for everyone. As my job can be quite stressful, I tend to spend my free time doing all kinds of creative things, sich as drawing/painting, reading, and of course puzzling!
How did you get into the world of puzzling?
My puzzle journey started as a kid, I simply loved doing any kinds of puzzles, but especially Disney ones. Then, during my high school years and university years, I was sadly too busy to do any puzzles. Then, one day during the early days of the pandemic in 2020, I discovered Karen Puzzles on YouTube, and found my love for puzzles again!
What makes you keep puzzling & how often do you puzzle?
Puzzles are art pieces that you assemble yourself, which is just so fun and super relaxing. As it is a great stress reliever, I puzzle almost every day now, even if it's just for 15 min, just to get a clear head and not think for a few minutes.
What is your favorite type of puzzles?
I don't have any preferences about piece counts, I think even large puzzles of 2000+ pieces can be really fun! Weird random piece shapes can be quite challenging, which makes the finished puzzle feel like even more of an accomplishment. For me, the art of the puzzle is the most important, as I prefer colorful pictures, and illustrations (such as Rowon's art) are definitely way easier for me than photographs.
During puzzling sessions, do you listen to anything or puzzle in silence?
I usually either listen to an audiobook/podcast or watch a TV show/movie while puzzling, as I cannot deal with silence.
If you were to describe what puzzling means to you, what would it be?
Stress relief
