Tell us about what your ordinary day looks like.
After leaving my last job, my days have been a lot more slower paced and reflective. My mornings tend to consist of me making a cup of hot milk tea, reading and listening to music for sometime before I get on with organizing and cleaning my home. When the weather is nice, I love taking a walk outside and exploring the city, checking out new places, foods and desserts. At home, I enjoy making art whenever I have time, whether it be drawing, recording song covers, or diving into a creative crafty project.
How did you get into the world of puzzling?
Growing up, I've always been a fan of puzzling but I only got to do it in the passing, when it's available to me. It was not until 2020, during the peak of COVID when the world was shut in, that I truly started to dive into puzzling. While cleaning my house, I came across an old worn-out 1000pc jigsaw puzzle box. I was both confused on how it got there and also eager to attempt to do it because it had a cute cat-shaped snowman in the image. It took me a few weeks to complete it but the process was so satisfying and calming to my brain. While the world outside was in chaos, puzzling soon became the activity that kept my mind together and my days going.
What makes you keep puzzling & how often do you puzzle?
The piece-by-piece mentality really resonates with me and what I go through in life. Puzzling has consistently served as a reminder for me to take things slow and enjoy the process. The finished product allows me to reflect on the whole journey of getting there. That it is about progress and appreciation towards every step rather than perfection. It also helps develop my own patience and problem-solving skills. On the average, I would puzzle weekly.
What is your favorite type of puzzles?
As an artist myself, I love puzzles that reflect the styles of artwork from other artists. I look for colors, textures, nature, and simple yet strong messages in the image.
During puzzling sessions, do you listen to anything or puzzle in silence?
During puzzling sessions, I like to listen to soft music that are both easy to listen to and not too distracting. I tend to gravitate towards anime and game music, Christian, and soft pop.
If you were to describe what puzzling means to you, what would it be?
It's a type of focused art that teaches us to look at things from a different perspective.
