Tell us about what your ordinary day looks like.
An ordinary day for me begins when my husband and I drop off our 4-year-old at daycare. Since we both work from home, we like to start our mornings at a local coffee shop, where we answer emails and organize our day before heading back home to dig into our projects. I’m a graphic designer by trade, so I usually spend the mornings working on client projects. Depending on how many projects I have, my afternoons typically open up, allowing me to focus on my personal projects. These include creating time-lapse videos of puzzles for my YouTube channel, writing puzzle reviews on my blog FindEveryLittlePiece.com, creating content for my puzzle-themed Instagram account, and fulfilling orders from my online puzzle shop. On lighter days, I enjoy visiting local thrift stores in search of new puzzles.

How did you get into the world of puzzling?
I’ve loved puzzling since I was a child, though it didn’t become a main hobby until I started dating my husband. Growing up, I didn’t have access to many puzzles, but when we discovered our mutual enjoyment of them, it quickly became a shared pastime. Many of our date nights have been spent quietly puzzling together, and I believe it helped us see how compatible we are as a couple. I cherish the fact that he’s joined me in assembling almost every puzzle I’ve worked on, even if it’s just a few pieces. Sharing my passion with the person I love is something I adore.

Just last year, my love for puzzling turned into an obsession when I accepted puzzles as payment for a freelance project. Suddenly, I had 1,000 puzzles in my garage, which led me to start my puzzle shop, Every Little Piece. While working on marketing materials for the shop and researching different brands, I realized how much I enjoy reviewing and comparing various puzzle companies. With 14 years of experience as a designer in the art and gift industry, I’ve gained interesting insights into how art is used and the decisions companies make when producing puzzles. I love sharing that knowledge and sparking discussions about important topics, such as the increasing use of AI-generated artwork and which companies are making more eco-conscious decisions.

What makes you keep puzzling & how often do you puzzle?
One thing that keeps me puzzling is being connected with a whole community of people on social media who share my passion for puzzles. I’ve made wonderful friends online and truly enjoy sharing the joy and excitement of discovering and assembling a great puzzle. Puzzling in general is a nice break where I can relax and zone out doing something I enjoy and it's even better when shared with others.

The bulk of my puzzling happens during the work week. I try to dedicate the weekends to spending time with my family and also to prevent burnout since so much of my weekday is devoted to puzzles.

What is your favorite type of puzzles?
1,000-piece puzzles are my sweet spot. I love that they can be a little challenging but aren't overwhelmingly so. For me, considering the price of a lot of puzzles these days, I want a puzzle that's going to last a little bit. I've also really gotten into mini puzzles lately. I like that they are easy to travel with and are a nice contrast to the bigger puzzles I'm usually working on. My husband and I have started bringing them with us when we go out on dates. They are perfect to work on while snacking on food and chatting together, plus it's a bonus that they don't take up much room on the table.

My favorite type of puzzle, however, is when I come across one that uses the artwork of an artist that I've worked with before. I've worked with hundreds of artists over the years for my job and it's so fun to come across a puzzle with artwork by someone I know.

During puzzling sessions, do you listen to anything or puzzle in silence?
I almost always have a show or movie on while I work. If I’m not in the mood to watch anything, I’ll put on some lofi music or even my own YouTube channel. It’s a bit meta, but I enjoy watching myself puzzle while I puzzle.

If you were to describe what puzzling means to you, what would it be?
Puzzling is a moment of calm in a busy world.

Tell us about your other interests & joys.
Most of my interests revolve around puzzles. I’m a pretty minimal person when it comes to shopping, but I’m a maximalist when it comes to puzzles. I love thrifting for puzzles—hitting the thrift store in search of a great puzzle deal is one of my favorite things to do. I try to be selective and only grab puzzles that have images I love or are higher quality brands. I’ve also been on the lookout for a cabinet I can repurpose because I really want to set up a Little Free Puzzle Library in my area.

As for non-puzzling interests, I’m a big reader, though I’ve been in a bit of a slump the past couple of years. I’m really looking forward to getting back into reading because it’s one of my favorite things to do aside from puzzling. It would be great to combine the two by listening to audiobooks while assembling puzzles.
